“This piece is personal. I designed the ‘It’s Okay To Not Be Okay’ graphic because I remember what it felt like to be silent. In middle school, dealing with social anxiety and bullying, I felt deeply less than not having the right clothes or shoes only amplified that feeling.
I struggled to understand or express the turmoil inside me. I just knew I wasn’t okay, but I didn’t know what to call those feelings.
I recreated this design as a message to my past self, and to anyone who has felt that same silence: It truly is okay to not be okay.
